Returning Boston’s waterfront to the public

In 2016, the Barr Foundation announced a special initiative aimed to ensure that all people and neighborhoods of Boston enjoy and benefit from a waterfront that is welcoming, fun, productive, and resilient. To amplify the work of the partners involved, especially those with limited communications capacities, the Barr Foundation sought to create a brand, digital home, messaging, and stories that reflect the work of the collaborative. Hairpin answered the call.

Shaping a shared identity

Hairpin created the Boston Waterfront Partners brand, including logo design, color scheme, look, and feel to reflect the collective action, commitment, and united front of the partners.

We also designed and developed the Boston Waterfront Partners website to amplify the work of the partners, aggregate media coverage and social media content, and provide a directory of the people and partners involved.

The site includes a custom digital map of projects and priorities, providing an interactive platform to gather and map feedback from visitors. This unique tool illustrates the geographic scope of the waterfront project, provides additional information and ways to engage, and invites people to share their interests and aspirations for the waterfront.
